Increasing the Effectiveness of Family Courts: Joint Project on Better Protection of the Rights of Family Members
Dr. Selenga Gürmen takes part as an expert consultant in the project "Increasing the Effectiveness of Family Courts,"which is a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe.
One of the aims of the project is to strengthen the protection of the rights of women, children, and other family members during the court process by increasing the effectiveness of family courts.
In December 2021, Dr. Selenga Gürmen gave a seminar titled "Evaluation of ADR mechanisms in terms of preventing trauma and secondary victimization for parents and children in divorce" at the Workshop on Evaluation of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms in Family Law Procedures for family court judges and experts. In May 2022, she gave a training on "Psycho-social Needs of the Child and Best Interest Assessment of the Child During the Divorce Case" at the Round Table Meetings of the European Union-Council of Europe Joint Project "Increasing the Effectiveness of Family Courts: Better Protection of the Rights of Family Members."
Since November 2022, she has been preparing the training booklet "Training on Effective Techniques for Interviewing Children in Family Court Cases" and conducting trainer training.
In this training, communication techniques suitable for the child are shared to increase the expertise of judges, prosecutors, auxiliary personnel, and experts working in family courts and to reduce the possibility of secondary trauma in communications with the child.
